Culture of Acanthamoeba sp.

We are studying the susceptibility of these pathogens to compounds of natural origin and the acquisition of virulence in human fibroblast culture. Research is conducted using proteomic and molecular methods

Epidemiological studies of protozoa of the digestive system

We have recently started studying microsporidia pathogenic to humans. As part of this topic, we are studying opportunistic infections in immunocompromised individuals and the occurrence of these pathogens in environmental samples. The research is conducted using molecular methods

Studies of the tick microbiome

Currently, we are intensively studying the biology of bloodsucking arthropods and the mechanisms of transmission of pathogenic microorganisms by these vectors. Molecular studies based on the analysis of several genes allow us to determine the genetic diversity of bacteria and protozoa with a particular focus on strains/genotypes pathogenic to humans and domestic animals

Culture of Toxoplasma gondii

We are conducting comparative studies of the closely related parasitic protozoan species Toxoplasma gondii and Neospora caninum using proteomic and molecular methods. We are studying the effects of naturally derived compounds on the virulence of both species.
